Our Clinical Scholar Program offers talented senior-year nursing students an opportunity to earn valuable Nursing Scholarship financial assistance while supporting their smooth transition from the classroom to the professional workplace. The Program is available to University of Maryland, School of Nursing and Stevenson University students only.
Qualified students in a Bachelor of Science or Clinical Nurse Leader Program receive a scholarship amount of $5,000 for their last semester of school in exchange for a two year commitment to UMMC.
To be considered, each student must complete an on-line application as well as the clinical scholar application form. The clinical scholar application form is posted on your school's Blackboard. You may also find one on our UMMC web site:

As a Clinical Nurse I:
This role is reserved for the new graduate or nurse with less than 12 months experience. The nurse will utilize this time to learn the institution and nursing practice. It is expected that a nurse in this role:
•successfully pass the probationary period within 12 months (18 months maximum with a defined action plan developed with manager)
•utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional nurse
•participates in activities to develop own practice and to support group practice goals at the unit level
•functions effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team
•is accountable to patient, family and team members for care provided and to the nurse manager for totality of work performance
What You Need to Be Successful:
Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for the Clinical Scholars Program, you must be entering your senior year, with last semester ending May, 2016, in a BSN or Clinical Nurse Leader Program at either the University of Maryland School of Nursing, or Stevenson University School of Nursing, have a GPA of 3.0 or greater and sit for the NCLEX exam within 60 days of graduation from your nursing program.
