What You Will Do:
The University of Maryland Medical Center opened a new unit in July 2014 to provide specialty care to patients undergoing ECMO. The Lung Rescue Unit (LRU) is a state of the art unit, staffed with Critical Care Nurses who specialize in advanced care using the latest of technologies. The Unit offer comprehensive treatment for patients of acute cardiac and respiratory failure. We are part of a select group of hospitals in the country who have a unit dedicated to caring for ECMO patients.
For this unique opportunity, we are seeking nurses with two (or more) years of ICU experience who have a desire to work in a large Academic Medical Center and be part of such a challenging and cutting edge unit. As a Magnet facility, we strive to provide better care using evidence based practice techniques to advance our patients through their plan of care. Increasing outcomes and progression for our patients is our ultimate goal and we are seeking nurses who wish to advance their patients and careers with the same goals.

What You Need to Be Successful:
Qualifications
• 2 years’ experience as an RN in adult critical care/ICU
• BLS and ACLS required
• Licensed as an RN in the state of MD, or eligible to practice under Compact State Agreement outlined by the Maryland Board of Nursing
• Prior ECMO experience is not required
